BFI is celebrating the incredibly influential feats of filmmakers Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger in their Cinema Unbound season, affording us the rare opportunity to screen arguably their most famous work. 

Starring David Niven, Kim Hunter & Richard Attenbrough, this visually stunning fantasy romance set in England during World War 2 still has the power to dazzle audiences. 

Following the crash of his plane, pilot Peter Carter (Niven) tries to convince the courts of heaven to let him live once more, as he professes his love to a radio operator. Originally released as Stairway To Heaven, this wonderful classic charms with luxurious setpieces, sweetly nostalgic language and a heart the size of a whale. A delight!
