The Full Moon Film Festival 2024

Newcastle Community Cinema is excited to announce its 10th Annual Festival from November 12th to 17th, 2024. This year’s event features over twenty films, animation and claymation workshops, and a schools programme in association with Into Film.

Cinema lovers can purchase an all-access 'Golden Ticket' for £25 (or £20 for concessions), kicking off with the opening night rockumentary "Gama-Bomb: Survival of the Fastest." Directed by Newcastle's Kiran Acharya, this documentary chronicles the band’s two-decade journey through Northern Ireland's punk scene.

The festival includes a variety of highlights:

  • An Taibhse: The first Irish Language horror film, exploring themes from Ireland's famine era.

  • Shitefest presents… PLANKTON / Creatures From The Abyss: A cult classic midnight screening of a hilariously bad film.

  • Hundreds of Beavers: A funny homage to classic cartoons.

  • North Circular: A gritty documentary showcasing Dublin's musical culture, with a live Q&A.

  • The Irish Question: A provocative film by acclaimed filmmaker Alan Gilsenan, this cinematic meditation examines the implications of a united Ireland in the context of a border poll becoming increasingly likely.

  • Wild Swimming Sunday: A programme featuring a documentary on sea swimming, with a pre-screening swim and discussions led by Paul McCambridge and Maureen McAvoy.

  • Kensuke’s Kingdom: An animated adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel.

Join us for a special closing night screening of "Mickybo and Me," celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Don’t miss this remarkable celebration of film! Grab your 'Golden Ticket' today and dive into cinematic wonder.
