In a marked change of direction, super-stylised director Edgar Wright pulls away from more traditional humorous territory to bring us this psychological thriller set in swinging 60s London. And it works a treat.
Aspiring Fashion designer Eloise (Thomasin McKenzie) is inexplicably able to time travel back to 1960s Soho, where she meets alter-ego, the dazzling upcoming singer Sandy (Anya Taylor-Joy), and the lines start to blur between her 2 existences, as she literally starts to live her dream and becomes ensconced in a seedy Sixties underworld where Sandy is very much in danger.
Gaudy, raucous, swinging fun, with a sublime soundtrack, spectacular central performances, plenty of cheeky cameos & staggering, slick visuals throughout – it’s all very, very groovy, baby.
