Starring the frankly perfect Michael Caine as Dickens’s archetypal Christmas curmudgeon Scrooge alongside all our favourites, Brian Henson’s 1992 seasonal big screen delight is still entertaining audiences of all ages nearly 30 years later.
It’s hard to pick a favourite bit – all of the ghosts that visit Scrooge are just brilliantly funny in their own way – but the whole experience is utterly joyous, and a rock-solid Christmas Classic. Staying as close as possible to Dickens’s masterpiece, it acts as a perfect way for younger viewers to be introduced to the story, and is funny, heart-warming and packed with a delightful array of top drawer original songs throughout.
The best fun is trying to spot each of the Muppets in their Victorian roles, even the wee cameos - which often are the funniest. The perfect family Christmas movie, and a rare showing on the Big Screen. Humbug!
