Talk: Dr. Mihalis Doumas –  Quality of life, dance, and working with the Parkinson's community in Northern Ireland.

Join Dr. Mihalis Doumas, an expert in Parkinson's disease research, for an insightful 30-minute talk as part of this unique NI Science Festival event. Dr. Doumas will discuss the wide range of symptoms experienced by individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, both movement-related and non-movement-related, providing a comprehensive overview of how the condition impacts daily life. From tremors and rigidity to mood changes and cognitive effects, the talk will explore the complexity of Parkinson's and the challenges it presents.

Dr. Doumas will also highlight current approaches to improving the quality of life for those living with the disease, including the role of medication and innovative therapies like physical activity. He’ll dive into exciting research on the benefits of dance and other movement-based therapies in helping people with Parkinson’s regain mobility and confidence, offering a hopeful and inspiring look at the future of care.
