Stop Making Sense
Considered by many as being the absolute zenith of live music performance film, it’s 40 glorious years since a beguiling David Byrne sloped onstage talking about a tape he wanted to play. In 1984, Talking Heads were at the very height of their artistic powers, delivering odd, angular, entrancing art-pop/rock and renowned for their kerazee stage shows. Director Jonathan Demme seemingly had a mountain to climb in credibly translating these theatrical concerts on film, but against the odds he successfully bottled lightning in capturing all the sensation of a prime time Talking Heads. Packed with captivating versions, it really is a trip - and on the big screen it is a true spectacle. Get your big suits on.
