Filmed across Scotland, Gillies Mackinnon’s quirky, charming drama stars the ever-excellent Timothy Spall as widower Tom, a pensioner with a plan who undertakes the mother of all UK road trips using only his free pass, and the local bus networks.

A richly nostalgic, gentle journey unfolds, as Tom is found to be taking his wife’s ashes with him on the road, from John O Groats to Land’s End no less, to return to the site of the original marital home. And so we travel with our ageing protagonist , on an eccentric trip down the country, encountering various unusual & peculiar characters en route. Sweet without ever being mawkish, Spall is perfect here, as a driven, loving widow unaware his challenging quest down the length of the UK is actually slowly transforming him into somewhat of a celebrity as he clocks up bus-mile after bus-mile.
