Young Plato

‘It’s time to think for yourselves. Challenge any statements you might hear. Violence breeds violence.” Directors Neasa Ní Chianáin & Declan McGrath bring us this bright, inspiring & captivating doc, focussing purely on the ethos & enigma of one Kevin McArevey, a school principal at Holy Cross Boys School in Belfast.

Here we meet a man with new ways of thinking, challenging the sociopolitical zeitgeist. He implements a philosophy room, where the boys & school teachers share dialogue in a relaxed and playful manner, encouraging the young ones to learn principles of morality, the virtues of stoicism, and many other aspects of philosophy, with fascinating results. Incredibly engaging & brave work.
